Arizona Charter Academy sixth grader Claire Avalos was recognized at the Surprise City Council meeting Sept. 6 for obtaining a perfect score on her Math AzMERIT state test for the last two years. Claire has attended Arizona Charter Academy in Surprise since kindergarden. She and her father Armando, center, a city employee, accepted the recognition along with the council members
