Arizona Charter Academy in Surprise is Named One of the ‘100 Best Arizona Companies’ for 2017-2018
The Charter School Won in the ‘Best of Heart’ Category
SURPRISE, Arizona—The Principals, Vice Principals and other staff at Arizona Charter Academy in Surprise have always strived to provide a supportive environment and exceptional academic rigor that has led to the school to surpass the state average in academics.
But what is perhaps even more impressive about Arizona Charter Academy is the heart of the staff and students, and their passion to make a difference. This has been demonstrated time and time again by the school’s long list of student awards, which include Recognition from the City of Surprise to the Junior National Honor Society for their Adopt-a-Street Project, a first place win in the City of Surprise Entrepreneur Boot Camp and as a winner of the City of Surprise Literacy Challenge.
The charter school is also devoted to being an active member of the community, giving back whenever they can through various events like blood drives, enrolling in the “Adopt a Street” program in Surprise and more.
Recently, Arizona Charter Academy was rewarded and recognized for their many efforts to be a positive beacon in the West Valley; the school was just named as one of the 100 Best Arizona Companies for 2017-2018 by BestCompaniesAZ.
Melissa Holdaway, Chief Executive Officer for Arizona Charter Academy, said the school was included in the “Best of Heart” category, which she said reflects the culture that the school’s staff and students provide because they care so much about each other and their community.
“Our students and staff truly want to create a positive impact in our community and are always happy to sign up for community service projects. The Best of Heart award was given to companies that show how much they care by building positive relationships with employees, customers and the community,” Holdaway said.
The Best Arizona Companies awards are only given out every 5 years, Holdaway said, adding that this is the second time the school has won the prestigious title.
Arizona Charter Academy did not apply for the award; rather, the school was selected for the honor. The 100 companies are chosen based on numerous factors, including workplace culture and business awards, charitable giving initiatives, and having innovative thought leaders who are willing to share knowledge.
“I know I can speak for all of us at Arizona Charter Academy when I say we are both thrilled and humbled by this award, as it a reflection of our staff’s and student’s strong commitment to academic excellence, as well as being a caring member of our wonderful community,” Holdaway said.
