Don't Miss ACA's Veteran's Concert on November 9th!

2nd Annual Concert

On Thursday, November 9, around 50 sixth through eighth graders from the Integrated Academy of Studies will take the stage in the gym at Arizona Charter Academy (ACA) to sing a number of songs that honor our nation’s veterans.

The second annual “A Concert For Our Veterans” will begin at 10 a.m. and will include a light breakfast for those in the audience. The show, which will last around 45 minutes, will include around seven songs including familiar and favorite numbers like “America the Beautiful,” “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” “Our American Heroes” and “Distant Shores.”

Keynote Speaker

City of Surprise Councilman and veteran Skip Hall will welcome the audience with a short speech at the start of the program, and retired Chief Master Sergeant John Mazza will give the keynote address.

Rachael Crossman, head of the Music Department, said last year’s concert was such a huge success, she and the students knew they definitely wanted to perform again this year. “We had such a great turn out last year with around 100 people coming to the concert,” Crossman said. “The students loved the stories and meeting the veterans from our community. It is also a great chance for the music department to give back by providing a free concert and breakfast for our community.”

Don't Forget to RSVP

Almost every student performing this year also performed last year, Crossman said.

“They are very excited and auditioned to be the ones to read the essays they wrote for the concert. It is a great chance for the students to perform solos and speak publicly.”

The concert is free, but Crossman said she is asking that anyone who is interested in attending to please email her an RSVP by November 1. Her email is rcrossman@azcharter.com.
