ACA Specials Roundup!

5-8 Choirs singing at virtual MLK event in Surprise

Next Saturday, Jan 16th, our 5-8 ACA choirs will be featured in the City of Surprise Virtual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration!! We are honored to have been handpicked to perform a piece for them this year, especially for such a great event.

We joined many other local choirs in submitting pieces, to hope to be featured. We submitted "Lean on Me", "Lift Every Voice and Sing" and "Rise Up" all sung by our middle school choirs and they chose "Rise Up." Listen for our piece in the video, it will accompany images of the art submissions they received this year. They will also acknowledge each of our students on the video.

This Virtual Event will be held: Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 9 a.m. City of Surprise social media channels & Surprise TV

Other great things going on in ACA Specials:

k-2 Crafts: Before break, the k-2 crafts classes designed holiday cards for our “spread the cheer” project . With support from parents dropping off the cards during our winter wave, we were able to collect 98 cards to spread the cheer to 96 residents of Orchard Pointe Assisted Living Home. Looking forward , I’m excited for when we can be together again and start some of my favorite Winter/Spring painting projects.

k-4 Art: Our first week back from break we played some silly drawing games in art using the student's whiteboards! We had so much fun playing with different shapes and lines to create funny faces and animals!

5-8 Art: Pictured was art students' favorite project from the hybrid learning: Painting a memento box using a masking technique! They got to keep the wooden boxes that were donated to us by a local business.

5-8 Music: In Music we are so excited to dive into our new Spring Music that will featured in our Online Spring Showcase this May!

k-8 Finess: In Fitness class we have been understanding the importance of drinking water daily as well getting enough sleep- students are even tracking thier own sleep cycles!

k-8 Technology: In Tynker classes, we will be diving into the world of coding and have been creating Minecraft characters- students LOVE seeing thier designs come to life.
