Preparing Your Child for State Testing in April

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The state testing season is upon us! Due to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic the state did not hold accountability testing for the 19-20 school year, and while the state did host the test for the 20-21 school year, the state did not hold schools accountable for the scores. However, that has changed for the 21-22 school year – not only is the state requiring that all students test, but the schools are held accountable for the percent passing.

ACA has been working diligently all year to prepare for this – ensuring that we are holding students to the highest of academic standards and building in time into all schedules, K-8, to address learning loss during Covid. We are confident that our students are going to do well and that we will continue to defy the odds and prove that zip code does not define destiny!

How can you help prepare your child for testing:

· Please ensure that your child(ren) has a full night sleep the night before testing

· Please ensure that your child has had breakfast on the day of testing

· Please make every effort for your child to be in attendance on their testing days

· That being said, if your child is sick with a fever or vomiting, please keep them home

· Please refrain from picking your child up early on testing days – the state requires that once a student starts a test they cannot leave. Therefore, if you come to pick your child(ren) up and they are not done with that day’s test, they will not be able to leave – or will have to submit the test unfinished and any unanswered questions count as wrong

· 5th – 8th grade students will leave their laptops and chargers at ACA the night before testing so they are fully charged and prepared for testing

**Full time DL students have been sent an email directly from Mrs. Beckman with their testing dates**

We truly are looking forward to showing the world what ACA can do- we are ready to rock this test! Please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns regarding testing. Let’s do this!!
